Genetics

When genetics belongs in the plan

A genetics conversation is for a family history or a previous result, not an automatic add-on to every cycle.

The center's name includes genetics because some fertility plans need it, not because every couple should have an embryo test.

Two different questions Chromosome screening looks broadly at the number of chromosomes in an embryo. Testing for a known condition looks for one disease already identified in the family. The blood work required before a cycle is not the same for both. The consultation names which question, if either, applies to you.

What the result can and cannot do A result can change which embryo is considered for transfer. It cannot promise a pregnancy, and it does not rule out every condition a child might have. If you have reports from a previous genetic clinic, bring them. If you do not, the history you can tell is enough to start.
