Irregular cycles and ovaries that look polycystic on scan. The visit sorts ovulation before naming a treatment.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common reason cycles are irregular. It is not, by itself, a reason to start IVF.
What the consultation looks at
Cycle length, weight change, signs of extra androgen, and whether ovulation is happening. An ultrasound and hormone tests are read together, not as a label from the scan alone.
Paths that are discussed
Restoring ovulation is often the first treatment conversation. Insemination or IVF comes later, if ovulation treatment is not enough or another factor is found, including the partner's semen analysis.

A similar ultrasound can be seen in other situations. The physician confirms the picture in clinic.
